Latest Session of the China Law Salon: “Guard Your Vault”
On October 28th, 2016 W&B hosted the latest session of the China Law Salon, “Guard Your Vault” in Room A1 on the 26th floor of The Center. The speaker, W&B partner Jiang Feili, presented the lecture in front of representatives from a number of enterprises as well as lawyers from W&B.

Mr. Jiang divided his speech into three parts -- “Types of Asset Commingling During the Four Phases of Business Development”, “Who Moved the Entrepreneurs’ Cheese?” and “Ways to Protect Your Business and Entrepreneurs’ Family Assets”.

In the first part, Mr. Jiang identified the four phases of business development: the start-up stage, the sustained development stage, the expansion stage and the stabilization & recession stage. He pointed out all of the problems associated with finance and asset management that were most likely to emerge during each phase, and, illustrated by actual cases, he analyzed the roots of these problems and their adverse impact on the business and the entrepreneur. He then offered suggestions on how to eliminate these legal concerns.
During the rest of the lecture, Mr. Jiang identified potential legal challenges in dealing with creditors, competitors, shareholders and partners from the point of view of the entrepreneur, and he shared with the audience his experience gained from past civil and commercial disputes and criminal cases. In conclusion, Mr. Jiang, drawing on his own practices and quoting applicable legal provisions, proposed ways for an enterprise to identify potential legal issues and align managerial measures and practices.

Throughout the two-hour presentation Mr. Jiang constantly stimulated the audience with his active engagement.
