On March 1^st, 2017, W&B hosted a China Law Salon session entitled “Marriage and Wealth Planning for High Net Worth Individuals” at its head office. Ms. Gui Fangfang, attorney for the W&B Personal Wealth Legal Services Center, delivered the lecture as the keynote speaker.

High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) are people who enjoy high net asset value. It is very important for such people to manage their wealth, support their parents and to raise and educate their children, especially in modern society. Ms. Gui explained legal issues relating to marriage and wealth planning through case studies illustrating eight topics, including “How to Manage Your Pre-Marital Property”, “Planning for Children Under the New “Two-Child Policy”” and “How to Segregate Family Property from Business Assets”. She drew on her years of experience to share practical tips on legal issues with HNWIs.

The session was highlighted by a seamless and vividly expressed integration of practical case law and legal provisions focused around hot topics. Ms. Gui began her lecture by interpreting a recent supplement to Article 24 of the Marriage Law, and proceeded to provide legal opinions and insights on issues such as preparations for raising a second child, pension planning, and the accumulation of education funds.
