Eight government bureaus, including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, are jointly promoting pilot programs on “green” supply chain innovation and applications. These bureaus propose disclosing information on environmental offences throughout supply chains in accordance with applicable regulations.

The pilot programs will be carried out on two entities: cities and enterprises. A pilot city is required to establish a green supply chain in the following four ways:

(1) Expanding “green” procurement by the government, prioritizing the purchase and use of green products, equipment and facilities with energy-saving, water-saving and materials-saving features and establishing corresponding assessment systems;

(2) Establishing green supply chains, researching and formulating guidelines for the establishment of green supply chains in key industries and enterprises, setting up a sound environmental credit rating system and a compulsory information disclosure system, and disclosing information about environmental offenses throughout the supply chain.

(3) Promoting the development of environmentally friendly industries and supporting the use of environmentally friendly technology along with the comprehensive utilization of resources and environmental services;

(4) Promoting green consumption, ramping up the promotion of green products and green packaging and encouraging cooperation between the courier industry and the recycling industry.
